It’s February! And that means all sorts of love and affection, candy hearts and chocolate, and all sorts of pretty things and the best-smelling candles. BUT this month isn’t just about the original day of love - Valentine’s Day - but it can also be about self-love and love for your lady friends!
Galentine’s Day, anyone?
Okay, so not technically an OFFICIAL holiday, and more of a fictitious holiday, Galentine’s Day hasn’t always been around. I had heard it tossed around the last several years, but it took finally binge-watching some of Amy Poehler’s sitcom “Parks and Recreation” that I finally understood its origins. According to the main character, Leslie, the invention of the now full-steam ahead, wildly popular “holiday” is all about that special, platonic love between girlfriends and celebrating that. Your tribe!
In the words of Leslie Knope herself, “Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
I mean, who could be against any of that?!?!
