My top mascara choices

I’ve always been a firm believer that even if you’re FEELING rough, you don’t have to LOOK rough. Even if you don’t have the energy to put on a full face of makeup to take on the day, the bare minimum of two things will make a drastic difference and both how you look and feel: lips and lashes.

So to that tune, I’ve rounded up my all-time favorite mascaras for you, complete with why I love them and even some tips when wearing them. Did I miss a favorite of yours or are you on the same page as me? Keep reading to find out!

I’m obsessed with Benefit and their cheeky product names and descriptions. I love it when a brand has fun! And you can definitely have some fun with this mascara. It’s the best lengthening, volumizing and feathering mascara I’ve EVER used. The secret, in my opinion, is the brush. It keeps lashes from clumping after applying the mascara and combs them out to help build the length. Also a bonus is that although it’s a long-lasting formula that doesn’t run, it washes off easily at the end of the day.

Clinique Lash Power mascsara.jpg

So here’s the deal with this one. I NEVER use it alone. You’ll come to learn I’m a huge fan of mixing and matching products, and this is my #1 example. When I was beautifying brides for their big day, I always used a quality thickening mascara and then Clinique’s Lash Power over it. I don’t personally feel there’s enough oomph from this alone, but man does it have some staying power. And I found it helped even when used over another lash product. It works by forming small tubes around your lashes, and it holds on for dear life! I’ve had some massive crying fits wearing this stuff, and IT DIDN’T BUDGE! Removal can be a bit tricky for those who aren’t in the know of Clinique’s education (I worked for them for 4.5 years) but all it takes is very warm water and gentle massaging. No makeup remover required!

The BALM, Mad Lash.

Hands down a fantastic mascara. It adds volume and doesn’t run. It also doesn’t seem to completely dry out and make my lashes super hard and crunchy, so if I need to add an extra swipe before heading out for dinner (after the mascara having been on all day), the brush is able to easily comb through the lashes of existing mascara. The price isn’t too shabby either for a 2-pack.

For the longest time I never bought mascara; I simply chose a sample with my Sephora order (in-store or online) or used rewards points for a deluxe sample. This is how I have been able to try TONS of different wands or that eye-enhancing goodness, and also how I came across this one from Lancôme. It gives me what I like to call “fluffy” lashes. It also has a very distinct scent. I know, I know, I’m sure it contains some sort of perfumes so this one may not be an option for you, but it doesn’t bother me and I like the way it smells!
